Ray Gaskin’s eclectic media career has carried him from humble beginnings on the muddy banks of the Poteau River in rural Southeastern Oklahoma to such exotic locales as Barcelona and Singapore.
He was educated at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. As an undergraduate at Southeastern he developed a life-long love of journalism where he served as editor of the student newspaper.
During the first decade of his career he honed skills as a sportscaster, working for TV stations in Oklahoma and Texas, including WFAA-TV in Dallas, where he covered two Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl appearances and announced professional soccer games.
After shifting his focus to the world of advertising, he rose to a management position in Dallas with Cable Networks, headquartered in New York, and frequently visited the Big Apple during his 16 years with the company.
More recently, he returned to his alma mater in Oklahoma where he taught media classes and supervised student publications.
Over the past five years he has sharpened his writing skills and undertaken a variety of projects including – news feature writing and photojournalism, screenwriting, short-form fiction, and narrative non-fiction.
